Prof. Boutt commences on-site research

April 2012 David Boutt, Professor in Geosciences at University of Massachusetts-Amherst commences on-site research and holds classes for students from University of Massachusetts-Amherst and Amherst College. Boutt uses recent geophysical methods to monitor hydrologic processes for quantifying fluxes between groundwater and surface water. At Tidmarsh, he proposes using fiber-optic distributed temperature sensing (FO-DTS) to temporally monitor temperature variations along the length of the stream today and in the future channel.
